Birthday celebration....turned engagement party! 😱💍💑🍾😍 I have to admit that I didn't see it coming! 😅 Tasting notes to follow...
Flashback to last Saturday...a fantastic day shared with a wonderful group of people 🥂🏅🍷😍
Elevated to the rank of Grand Cru Classé in the classification of 2012, Château de Ferrand is definitely one to watch in Saint-Émilion. Managed by Pauline Bich Chandon-Moët and her husband Philippe Chandon-Moët, the recently renovated estate has the distinction of having been passed down within just two families in its 300+ years of existence. • 🍷 Château de Ferrand – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2009 • 🏆 Excellent • 📅 2009 vintage • 🎨 Deep garnet • 🍇 83% merlot, 14% cabernet franc, 3% cabernet sauvignon • 👃 Rich, refined nose of black cherry jam, blackcurrant, sweet spices, sweet tobacco, charred wood and licorice with just a hint of forest floor. • 👅 The palate matches the nose beautifully with pronounced flavors of cooked black cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, tobacco, sweet spices and charred wood. • 👄 Medium+ body with silken tannins and elegant acidity, paired alongside a delicate backbone of minerality. Spiced red and black berries linger delightfully on the palate long after swallowing. • 👴 Exquisitely evolved and absolutely ready to drink now. For my personal taste, this vintage is right at its sweet spot but it could surely cellar comfortably for awhile longer. • 📝 I also had the opportunity to taste the 2015 and 2016 vintages and was immediately won over (which says a lot since my preference is usually for anything BUT youthful Bordeaux reds; however, these two vintages were already delectable and showing amazing potential). Mark my words: there are big things to come from this family-run château.
